At Rognstranda they can see how the glaciers once moved across, and polished the surface of the old rocks, which today can be strolled upon, and their rocks and minerals can be studied in detail. On the beach they can experience how running water, companied by rolling waves, continuously forms and reforms the sands. If they are lucky, there are chances to find their first fossil amongst the rocks just here!
The place where the children are most likely to discover traces of old lifeforms, is in Steinvika near Langesund. This geopark site is also a great place for shorter hiking trips along different trails. The trail going from Steinvika to Tangen fortress is the most popular. Along the path, several discoveries await, and at the end you are greeted by a fantastic view of the coastline.
