Summer in Telemark

If you are traveling during summer, the temperature can sometimes be hot, up to 30 Celsius degree. Normal summer temperature can vary from 20 to 25 Celsius degree. But in Norway and Northern countries the air is not humid. Sea temperature can reach 23 Celsius degree and there are many wonderful swimming areas along the coast of Langesund and Kragerø. In the middle of Telemark, the lake Nisser has many nice sandy beaches. In the mountains like Hardanger Mountain Plataou the temperature can be cold and windy, but also warm. Make sure to dress for changeable weather.

Fall in Telemark

The colors in autumn are wonderful and Norwegians like to spend a weekend in their cabins in the mountains like Rauland or Rjukan. This is also the season we pick berries and mushrooms.

Winter in Telemark

In Telemark you will find many ski resorts. It starts to snow in the mountains usually around October, and the ski resorts opens in November. But along the coast the winter can be mild and sometimes without snow. Sometimes the weather can be quite cold and a lot of snow. If you are dreaming of a white Christmas, the ski resorts offer many rental cabins, apartments and hotels.

Spring in Telemark

The snow is melting and the beautiful flowers in the forests of Telemark starts blooming. Especially the blooming of the anemones in May are popular at the Virgin Island - Jomfuland. The county is very green during spring. The 17th of May is our National day, and a great way to experience our culture.
