Langen
Length: 19 km
Duration: 1 hour
Difficulty: Easy / Family friendly
Lunde lock is a good starting point for cycling trips. There are places to eat as well as a park. The canal boats pass daily and the canal buses stop here too. First Camp Lunde - Telemark, which is situated adjacent to the lock, is a ‘cycle friendly business’ providing cycle hire as well as selling some bicycle equipment. Free parking and a mere kilometer to the town centre with food shops.
Start
This cycle route leads you into Landsmarka which is a beautiful area steeped in history. The route is child friendly, and there are multiple opportunities to have a swim in the river or one of the many small lakes. You will also find several nice and well marked hiking routes along this route, so you can combine the two.
Tyri
The small lake at Tyri is regulated, and the dam was constructed for industrial purposes and log driving. Tyri (dam) was an industrial centre for several hundred years with brickworks, mills, sawmills and pottery makers. The Tyri lake gave a steady stream and farmers came here in olden times from Helgen, Eidsbygda and Drangedal to have their grain milled and grinded. You can still see remains of the brickworks from the 1860’s if you follow the river for approximatly 200m.
Hiking trip Hestefjell
This hike is well signed with red markers. The route up towards the top of the mountain takes about 1 hour. At the top, you encounter a tall fire lookout tower. The guard cabin was occupied all summer long scouting for forest fires until small air planes took over this role. If you wander away from the tower to one of the look out posts, you get a magnificent view of across Landsmarka.
Langen
Landsmarka is a popular hiking area for the people of Ulefoss and Lunde. Landsmarka is a very special and beautiful area with its many laying lakes side by side. The majority of watercourses in Telemark flow south, but the Landsmarka watercourse flows north. Landsmarka watercourse consists of the following lakes from north to south: Tyrivatn, Langen, Sannavatn and Børten.
Vestre nuke
andscape and forests that partly follows an old timber/sleigh trail. Spectacular view down towards Landsmarka with benches at one of the outlook posts. A short part of the route is very steep, and it takes about 45 minutes to reach the post box at the top. This is one of IL Skade top ten hikes and is well signposted.
