Vinje Centre for Journalism and Literature is a national centre for literature and journalism based on the journalist and poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje, and the authors Aslaug Vaa, Tarjei Vesaas and Halldis Moren Vesaas.
At the centre, you can get to know the four great authors, read excerpts from books and journals, see pictures, quotes, and various digital installations. You can also play games about source criticism, play in the children's trail, and find a good book to read in the reading nook.
Literature
The centre focuses on the literary stories that come in many forms and from many places. The poetic stories can seduce, amaze, change, and explain. Vinje Centre showcases novels, short stories, and other tales.
Journalism
The exhibition is based on written journalism in newspapers, both printed and online. Vinje Centre is the first centre that presents journalism in general, and deals with, among other things, four pillars in Norwegian journalism.
Activities for children
In the centre you can meet the cat Lurivar, he is a word spy! The children will get a map, and then they can chase words through the exhibition. The young ones can also try to be newspaper editors, go through Glimmerdalen (a walley in a children’s book), and try to find fake news in a computer game.
Coffee service
If you are in the area, feel free to stop by for a cup of coffee and a pleasant chat. There is simple coffee service in the museum shop.
Where is Vinje Centre located?
