Top trip to Østre Vealøs from Siljan

Østre Vealøs is an extremely popular area for hiking and boasts one of the highest peaks in the eastern part of Skien. You can reach the summit from several directions, but this route starts from Vierød at Gonsholt in Siljan.

Description of hike
The hike starts from the barrier at Vierød. Follow the logging road for 1.2 km. Turn left uphill on a footpath/tractor road. The footpath leads into a valley, following the contours. When you come to the intersection with the footpath from Skisjø, go straight on and continue along. When you reach the highest point, which is where the footpath from Gramsebu/Vestre Vealøs joins, follow the footpath that turns left and on uphill to the summit plateau. There’s a short detour if you want to get to the highest point. The view is better if you walk a little way south.

Access
Take Austadveien from county road 32 to Gonsholt. After Austadveien 419, signed “Wierød”, turn right. Drive 300 m to a barrier with space for a few cars.
