Melakollen is waymarked with red Ts, and is one of the peaks included in the annual “Ti-topper’n” list of summits in Grenland. It offers extensive views over large parts of Siljan and all of Midtbygda. At several points, it’s also possible to glimpse the sea to the south and east behind the contours of the ridges. The open forest terrain is good for walking.
Description of hike
The hike starts opposite the parking area and continues along a small tractor road leading from the copse above the road. 200 m up the hillside, turn right and follow the uphill trail waymarked with red Ts. Access
Follow county road 32 uphill towards Steinsholt, approx. 1.5 km from the centre of Siljan. There is parking on the right-hand side, immediately before the small cattle grid at the top of the hill.
