Porsgrunn is known as the porcelain town. In 1887, Porsgrund's Porcelain Factory opened and still high quality porcelain is produced here. The factory is open and you can join a guided tour and see the production from clay to burning. The Porcelain Museum is located next to the factory, here you can see over 1000 porcelain objects and get to know the factorys.
The Geopark in Porsgrunn has a visitor center in the same premises as the Porcelain Factory. Stop by and get a very interesting and exciting introduction to the world of geology. Also suitable for children, they can, among other things, learn more about the dinosaurs.

Across the other side of the river, Tollboden Porcelain Collection is located. A large collection which includes several thousand porcelain objects, mostly donations from city residents. On this side of the river you will also will find DuVerden Sjøfartsmuseum + science center, the kids' absolute favorite!
Well worth a visit is the new porcelain church in Porsgrunn, Østre Porsgrunn church. With its modern look, it has become a landmark in Porsgrunn, loved by some and hated by others.

Porsgrunn also has the district's only Catholic church, Our Lady's Church, built on the model of Norwegian medieval stave churches.
If you are interested in contemporary art, take a trip to Kunsthall Grenland. Both norwegian and foreign contemporary art are disseminated here. Gallery Osebro conveys both visual arts and crafts and has approx. 10 exhibitions a year.
