The new church was designed by architect Espen Surnevik and Trodahl architects. The building is often referred to as the "porcelain church", as it was to be clad on the outside with tiles reminiscent of porcelain. Tor Entreprenør was awarded the construction contract, and work began in December 2017.
The new church building was completed in the autumn of 2019 and was consecrated on 15 September 2019.
