About

"Krystallhuset" was designed by an idea of Johnny Sørensen in the Industry Committee in Brevik .

The "Krystallhuset" construction is entirely made ​​of glass with a design similar to a beacon to mark Breviks connection to the maritime.

Glassmester Jan Erik Olsen was commissioned to assemble the "Krystallhuset".

The foundation consists of marble from Norcems business. Inside the glass house is placed a large crystal that is taken out of Norcems limestone mines and marble as the crystal is a gift from Norcem .

The idea from Johnny Sørensen was fine by architect Poul Neubert .

The lower part of the crystal house is shaped in marble and its friendly. "Krystallhuset" is surrounded by a cast iron railing under the old model. At the entrance to the "Krystallhuset"  is located two columns in marble in width and height symbolizes the blocks of nature -is exported including to England about 100 years ago. It was a major export industry that involved hundreds of men and many sailing ships in the North Sea trade.

Here where the "Krystallhuset" is located in the " Viking Bay " you see the fjord stretching out to sea. The place was also the hub between the East and the west coast from the early 1600s to the compound of Brevikstrømmen. On the occasion Brevik 150th anniversary Brevik got visit of H.M King Harald and Queen Sonja H.M.

The unveiling of the Crystal house was made ​​by the Queen on June 24, 1995.

The royal couple arrived Brevik with royal ship " Norge " .
