Remains of Norway’s oldest known church dated to AD 1010 have been found at Hakastein, together with the country’s oldest Christian burial grounds (ninth century), cooking pits from AD 0–350 and three 17th-century “witches’ graves”.
The sculpture Rat Virgin is located near by Skien centre, at Bakkestranda.
Spriten Kunsthall is located on Klosterøya, a few minutes walk from the center of Skien.
