Only 10 km from Porsgrunn town you find the outdoor area Sildevika. Here you can seek peace and quiet right by the sea. Sildevika is located on the mainland by the Ormerfjord in Porsgrunn.
At the outdoor area Sildevika you can fish from the jetty, swim, camp (on large grassy areas), play, go for a walk, relax, grill or paddle. Sildevika is very well located, here you will find both rocky cliffs and a fine sandy beach. There are nice hiking opportunities in the area, and a blue-marked summer track (10km) goes right past the coastal hut. There are also several small peaks that offer a nice view over the fjord, such as Plasseråsen, a well-known landmark and viewpoint, the Isdammen at Bjønnes, Bjønnes – Solvika and Lajordet. There are also a number of ancient monuments/cairns in the area. Efforts are being made to link Sildevika to the coastal path in Vestfold. On Turkart Porsgrunn 1:25,000 in the Grenlands series, you get a good overview of the hiking areas.
