Stathelle become a seaport from 1774. The place has retained much of its original construction and trading environment, and most of the buildings have exterior from 1830 to 1940 in the Empire style, or "Stathelle-Empire" as it is called.
Examples of this can be found in Strandgata. In Glosebakken and Rådhusbakken we see good examples of Stathelle style. Fogdegården and City Hall are also worth a look.
Take a trip over the bridge and out to the island where Fredric Croft Croft's venerable old villa is located. It was designed by architect Haldor Børve and listed in drag style / historicism in 1890-95.
