The building was designed by Skien's then-building manager, Hother Bøttger, and was ready for use in 1849.
The building, currently houses the Telemark Art Center, where art exhibitions and lectures on various cultural topics are held.
The bank is an exceptionally beautiful building in the new Renaissance style. Externally, it is preserved in its original form. The interior, on the other hand, has undergone a number of changes in pace with changes in the bank's operations and office needs, as well as requirements for a modern working environment.
