The tourist cabin at Jambakkmyra is a splendid base for many varied walks all year around at the Krokheia and we can really recommend you a walk to Spellmannsheia or to the Vardefjell (Kragerøs highest mount peak 329m a.s.l.)!
Located 4 kilometers from Fikkjebakke in Sannidal you can find the Tourism Associations cabin. A large parking lot appears shortly after passing the industrial area. From here you can choose to walk along the road (Kvennvannsveien is very suited walking trips, trips with stroller or with bicycle or wheelchair!) or to follow a hiking trail up to the cabin. Kvennvannsveien is a toll road. On sundays when the cabin is open, then so are the boom, which enables you to drive all the way up there against a small fee, paid at the boom checkout. (The boom closes at 16:00 in the afternoon.) The walking trip up to the cabin takes about 1 hour and on hot summerdays it is nice to take a refreshing bath in one of the many beautiful lakes that you will pass on your way exploring the Krokheia trails.
Opening hours
The tourism cabin at Jambakkmyra is open every sunday from September 30 and until the last Sunday before Christmas! On Boxing day starts the main season and the cabin will be open every sunday until Easter. The road from Fikkjebakke will be plowed during winter and ski slopes prepared inwards the Krokheia heath. At the cabin you will be able to get warm coffee and freshly baked norwegian waffles.
History
This cabin was built by Knut Buen in 1967. Untill that point was the Hofstølen cabin used by the tourism association. People have lived at the Jambakkmyra, like they did on all the other areas of the Krokheia. The walls to the old houses at Jambakkmyra is located at the foot of the crag where the cabin is build.
