Heddalsvannet offers great conditions for water sports such as paddleboarding, windsurfing and kayaking. The city is close to both the water and the mountains, and can offer you hiking trails in and outside the city on foot and by bike.

The winter in Notodden tends to be cold, snowy and beautiful. Grønkjær Ski Center offers trails for everyone, whether you are a "racer" or an exerciser. Parts of the competition trails are illuminated and provide the opportunity for an evening ride.
