Løvøya is a beautiful island located near Brevik in the municipality of Porsgrunn in Telemark, right next to the island Sandøya. A pedestrian bridge connects both islands, allowing you to walk from Løvøya to Sandøya or vice versa.

Discovery of thorite in the late 1820s
In addition to its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities, Løvøya also has an interesting history. In the late 1820s, the previously unknown radioactive element and metal thorite were discovered on the island.
