The island Bjørkøya is located in the skerries outside Brevik and has an exciting flora and rich wildlife. Here are idyllic sandy beaches and open space, and it is allowed to pitch tents. The island is suitable for cycling, there are cycle paths across and along the island. The southern part of the island is called Risøya, as the area was previously separated from Bjørkøya by a narrow strait. Land uplift has made the islands cohesive.
Partially accessible for wheelchair users
Large parts of the island are relatively flat, and there are good opportunities to get around the central parts of the island with a wheelchair. Drinking water and a public toilet can be found near the café and the ferry berth.
