Attractions

The Sea Serpent in the Seljordsvatnet is the biggest attraction in our city. It's very popular to glance the water on a calm, warm and sunny day in hope it revealing itself. You can use the Sea Serpent Tower in the center of Seljord or the Sauna as great bases to spot this phenomenon.

Seljord church

The church was built in the romanesque style at some time in the 12th century. It is dedicated to St Olav. On the north-west corner of the church a face has been hewn. This, according to legend, represents the saint king.
Sauna by Lake Seljord

Into the Landscape Three installations based on local storytellings and the landscape they are placed in.
Skorve

Skorve is one of the highest mountains in Seljord, with two peaks: Mount Gøysen and Mount Nordnibba. During WWII two planes crashed into the mountain.

The Sea Serpent

In the midst of Telemark, which has always been associated with fairy tales, folksongs and fantasy, lies Seljordsvannet (Seljord Lake) and it’s great secret. What is really hiding under the blue, friendly surface?

The tale of the serpent in the seljord Lake have been told since 1750 and have been passed down in spoken form, being only partly written down. You can look for the serpent from the sea serpent tower on Bjørgeøyan.
Mount Bjørge

At Bjørgefjell you can choose from different paths through the cultural landscape with idyllic spots where you can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Seljordsvatnet.

Galleri Nutheim

Gallery Nutheim was opened in 1978. The Gallery exhibits art by local artists. Nutheim Guest House accommodates bus groups and other groups for meals and a look through the art gallery.
