The Stakraft Exhibit Centre at Western Telemark Museum in Eidsborg is dedicated to the history of hydro power in Norway.
Because of its significant drop height an potential water flow, the Tokke and Vinje river system was seen as one of the most favourable locations for a hydro power scheme in Southern Norway. In 1956 the construction started, and the last phase of the scheme (Hogga power plant) was finished in 1987.
The exhibition shows photographs and items from that intense construction period that brought wealth and modern infrastructure to Western Telemark.
The exhibit centre also shows the principles of hydro power by means of mechanical models, videos and online information.
The centre is open when the museum is open.
