16 reviewsBjaaland Bygderestaurant is an intimate and pleasant restaurant that serves food of Norwegian class based on seasonality and local ingredients where possible. You can find the restaurant in the premises of the old Olav Bjaalandsmuseet in Morgedal. The name of the restaurant was chosen to honor Olav Olavson Bjaaland, a polar explorer and skiing pioneer from Morgedal. The collection from the old museum can be seen at the Norwegian Ski Adventure in the same village.
The hosts of Bjaaland Bygderestaurant
The restaurant is run by Hellene and Thomas. Hellene is from Tasmania, Australia, and Thomas is from Morgedal. After many years together at work and traveling around much of the world, they moved to Morgedal in 2016 with their two children. Hellene is a chef and Thomas is skilled with wine, and the result was that they eventually opened Bjaaland Bygderestaurant.
Food made from local ingredients
When dining at Bjaaland Bygderestaurant, you get food made from scratch. The hosts are very keen on using local and organic ingredients in the food they prepare, where possible, in addition to ingredients and drinks from others who have a passion for what they produce. The focus is on organic and environmentally friendly producers.
